Surah Az Zumar Ayat 41 Translation Tafseer

Para 24 - فَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

39.41

اِنَّاۤ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَیْكَ الْكِتٰبَ لِلنَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّۚ-فَمَنِ اهْتَدٰى فَلِنَفْسِهٖۚ-وَ مَنْ ضَلَّ فَاِنَّمَا یَضِلُّ عَلَیْهَاۚ-وَ مَاۤ اَنْتَ عَلَیْهِمْ بِوَكِیْلٍ۠ (41)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

We indeed revealed this Book to you for the guidance of the people with the truth. So whosoever attained guidance did so for himself. And whosoever went astray, he strayed against himself—and you are not answerable for them. [1]

Commentary

Consolation is offered to the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in this verse by informing him that this magnificent book, the Quran, has been revealed to him for the benefit and guidance of people. Therefore, whoever attains guidance will find its benefit, but whoever goes astray will only harm himself. It is not the Prophet’s responsibility to compel someone to accept faith; rather it is upon the polytheists to decide whether or not they accept faith. The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم will not be held accountable for their mistakes.
